Radio Amateur Border Guard Club Activity Days (RCPW) February 11-19, 2023

The Diploma Program “Name Border Guard Stations” established another diploma – “Hero of the Soviet Union Nikita Fedorovich Karatsupa.

The diploma has 2 versions – Diploma II degree and Diploma I degree.

To this end, RCPW club is holding activity days dedicated to the legendary border guard Nikita Fedorovich Karatsupa that will take place from 00.00 UTC 11.02.2023 to 23.59 UTC 19.02.2023. This is a good opportunity to fulfill the established diploma.

Hero of the Soviet Union, the legendary Soviet frontier guard, Nikita Fedorovich Karatsupa was born on April 25, 1910 in the village of Alekseevka, now Kuybyshevsky district of Zaporozhye region of Ukraine in a peasant family.

In 1913, together with his mother (he did not remember his father, who died very early) he moved to Kazakhstan, lived in Atbasar. At the age of seven he was orphaned and raised in the Schuchinsk orphanage in the Kokchetav region of Kazakhstan

In October 1932 he was drafted into the border troops

In 1933 he graduated from the Far Eastern District School of Junior Service Dog Breeding, in 1937 – courses of training of the personnel at the Central School of service dogs of the NKVD Border and Internal Guard, in 1939 – courses of retraining of the personnel at the Central School of service dogs of the NKVD troops

From 1933 Nikita Karatsupa served as a guide and then an instructor of working dogs at the Far Eastern frontier post

September 1937 – in command positions at the headquarters of Grodekovsky border guard detachment

In his 20 years of service on the border Karatsupa participated in 120 clashes with the enemy, captured 338 border violators alive and killed 129 spies and saboteurs. He became famous for creating his own special school of training trackers and training dogs

In 1961 Colonel Nikita Karatsupa was transferred to the reserve

Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on June 21, 1965 for exemplary performance of the command tasks to protect the state border of the USSR and for the displayed courage and heroism Nikita Karatsupa was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal. Karatsupa was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Red Star and medals

Schools, libraries, river boats, Poltavka outpost of the Grodekovsky border detachment, and border outposts in Vietnam and India are named after Karatsupa You can watch a video about the Hero below:

Diploma II degree “Hero of the Soviet Union Nikita Fedorovich Karatsupa”

To earn Second Class Diploma applicants must earn 100 points for working with RCPW club members on any permitted bands during the activity week from 00.00 UTC 11.02.2023 to 23.59 UTC 19.02.2023. 5 points are credited for contact with a member of the RCPW club on the days of activity. Subsequently, at the end of the activity days – 3 points. Repeated communications are counted on different SW (VHF) bands, on the same band – different types of modulation (all types of DIGI count as one)

Diploma of the First Degree “Hero of the Soviet Union Nikita Fedorovich Karatsupa”

In order to receive Diploma of I degree on the days of activity in the period from 00.00 UTC 11.02.2023 to 23.59 UTC 19.02.2023 applicants must communicate with 25 RCPW club members on any permitted SW (VHF) bands with any type of modulation.

Thereafter, 50 RCPW members must be contacted at the end of the activity days. Repeated contacts with the same club member for this diploma will not count

Diplomas are free and issued electronically via https://hamlog.online/ based on uploaded RCPW member logs.

RCPW members receive a II degree diploma for 100 QSOs and a I degree diploma for 200 QSOs or on general grounds.

Observers (SWL) both diplomas are issued under the same conditions. Diploma applications must be submitted to the Club Secretary: rcpw@yandex.ru
