Russia has completed work on the new Sickle-VS5 anti-missile system

The Roselektronika holding company, part of state corporation Rostec, has unveiled the new Serp-VS5 anti-drone system. It was announced on the official page of Rostec State Corporation .

The new Serp-VS5 anti-drone system is designed to counter drone attacks. It is capable of simultaneously disarming several drones, including in situations where drones will fly from different directions

It operates in five frequency bands (900 MHz / 2.4 GHz / 5.2 GHz / 5.8 GHz) as well as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou bands, allowing it to be used not only against civilian but also military drones.

Drone countermeasures are accomplished as follows: The system suppresses the control channel that the drone is using to direct the operator. Then communication with the operator is severed and the drone’s navigation equipment is withdrawn. As a result, the drone becomes disoriented in space and fails.

The drones are countered

The Serp-VS5 is designed for a range of up to 5 kilometers with a power input of up to 550 watts. The manufacturing company says the complex can be used to monitor power lines or pipelines to keep them safe from sabotage by drones. It can also be used to secure industrial plants from reconnaissance drones

In the current politico-military situation, creating and implementing such a system could be very important in terms of securing military, industrial and infrastructure facilities from reconnaissance or sabotage attacks by enemy dronesSource
