World Autism Awareness Week – On the Air March 25-April 2, 2023
Join us at the first annual World Autism Awareness Week special event hosted by radio amateurs from around the world!
For the first time, more than 75 operators from 22 countries on 6 continents with 10 special call signs will go on the air from March 25 to April 2, 2023 in an effort to help spread awareness about the condition now known as autism spectrum disorder (ASD – ADS), which affects millions of people worldwide. Our international team will work from home, POTA and IOTA to maximize the reach of radio stations around the world! Special radio stations will be on the air: W2A – GB2AA – GB2AAW – GB0AAW – GB5AAW – 8A0RARI – 4X0AAW – HI0AUT – S76A – VC2AA and others.
Autism doesn’t care about age, color, religious beliefs, social or financial status, or where you live-it can affect anyone, and we don’t know why or how it happens.
From mild attention deficits to completely out of control, it manifests itself differently in each person. But many people live a good life once those around them understand that it’s okay to be different. Our goal in preparing this special on-air event is to raise awareness among people who may not understand what it is and how it can affect the lives of not only those who suffer from it directly, but also those who are affected indirectly, who live, work and play with someone on the spectrum.
Join us this week, connect with radio stations around the world that support spreading the word, and learn about how you can help those affected by ADS.
